Welcome to Galapagos Class

The Galapagos Giant Tortoise

Our teacher is Mrs Thomas and our teaching assistants are Mrs Dunstone and Mrs Smith. Mrs Banfield teaches us on a Thursday ( alternate mornings/afternoons)

We share all our wonderful learning on Seesaw.  Please log in to your child's account to see what we're up to.

Please scroll down to find termly spellings and curriculum maps showing what we are learning.

PE will take place on  a Wednesday and Thursday . Please make sure you have the appropriate school PE kit, including properly fitted trainers and warm clothes as PE will take place  outside for as long as the weather permits! Our sports coach, Mr Kingwell, teaches the Thursday afternoon session.

Reading books

Please can the children bring their reading books to school everyday. They have been tasked with reading for ten minutes each day at home to promote a love of reading. The children will use an 'ideas book' alongside their reading to collect ambitious vocabulary to use when writing in class. These need to be in school everyday.

Star pupil

Star of the Week will be awarded on a Friday. The following Friday the superstar has the opportunity to do a talk about themselves - it could be bringing in things to show, a PowerPoint presentation, sharing photographs, talking about themselves etc. It is a lovely way for the children to shine.

Spellings will be sent home each week. Spelling books need to be in school everyday. The children will have a spelling test on a Friday. The statutory word lists below are all the spellings Year 5 and 6 are expected to spell correctly.

In term 2 in History we are studying the Titanic with a focus on social history. See our topic organiser with contains facts to learn which will support our learning.
