We have spent a lot of time over the past few weeks learning about World War 1 and the effects it had on the world. The children have created some wonderful art work, which we have proudly displayed all around the school. We have also been lucky enough to have visitors coming in to speak to the children, to help them understand how people would have lived during this terrible time in our history.
The children’s hard work culminated with our Remembrance Assembly on Friday 9th November, when some of our children shared stories of the bravery shown by members of the Colerne community at the outbreak of war, and also the importance of taking time to remember those who paid the ultimate price in their quest for peace. We hope the children have gained a true appreciation of the events of WW1 and why it is so important to show thanks and remember.
