Christian Ethos, Vision and Values

'Be a light for all to see.' Matthew 5:16

Our Vision

Our purpose is to work alongside children in their learning to enable and empower them to achieve in all aspects, to aspire to greatness and to respect our world and the people within it.

Due to the ever-changing nature of our school community and heavy links with the Armed Forces, we place a huge emphasis for our children and community to be:

  • welcoming light that embraces new faces and change as a positive
  • guiding light that offers support and help to those who might be finding life difficult
  • leading light that allows children to give their own voice to issues and take ownership of their own pathways
  • shining light where all children have a chance to flourish and be recognised for the talents they bring to our community

Our Aims

We want Colerne Church of England Primary School to provide a vibrant and enriching learning community for learners of all ages to grow and develop in the essential elements for their future life and to make the very most of their unique and personal talents and interests. This is reflected in our School Aims that are centred on our principle of 'Being a Light for All to See' Matthew 5:16.

Our Values

Our 12 school values have been chosen by the whole school community to reflect our individual setting and need. They are distinctively Christian, based on our ethos and important whatever faith or background.

We explore these values during collective worship and in our classrooms but more importantly we live and demonstrate them everyday and in every interaction.

Our 12 values are linked to key Bible stories and one value is considered in depth each term with the Bible story that supports it.

The 12 values

Thankfulness

Trust

Perseverance

Justice

Service

Truthfulness

Compassion

Generosity

Courage

Forgiveness

Friendship

Respect

Collective Worship at Colerne Church of England Primary School is an extremely important part of our school day.  On Monday's, Mr Solomon will lead Collective Worship and this will focus on our term's value or one of the five British Values. On Thursdays, Mrs Chamberlain or a church visitor will lead Collective Worship based on the Key Bible Story of the term or other Bible stories that support the term's value.

Please find a link to some of the videos Reverend Janet, our former vicar and Governor, has shared with the children in the past.
