Welcome

'Be a light for all to see.' Matthew 5:16

Colerne is a 4-11 Church of England, Voluntary Controlled Primary School built in 1958 standing in its own extensive grounds on the edge of the village. There are at present nine classes some of which are vertically grouped.  All classes are of mixed ability with a balance of ages and gender. Wherever possible, children are placed within friendship groups.

We believe that all children can be ‘A light for all to see’ in all aspects of school life. At Colerne Church of England Primary School ALL children are given the opportunity to shine in their learning, lead where they are strong and be willing to accept help from those who can guide them, be it adults or peers. We believe that it is the right of every child to learn in a happy, ordered and harmonious environment. To enable each child to realise their contribution and responsibility as a member of our whole school community to make this school a place in which everyone can feel valued, respected and good about themselves.

We firmly believe a school functions most effectively when a relationship of trust and co‑operation exists between parents and staff.  We therefore warmly encourage parents to be actively involved in school life and hope that you will feel able to share your expertise for the benefit of all our children.  A thriving Friends of Colerne School group (FRESCO) exists and everybody is invited to become involved.

“I am very pleased with the stimulating and fun environment in the classroom and throughout the school.  The staff know each child well and ensure that each individual’s needs are well catered for.  The extra-curricular opportunities are an added bonus on top of an already full and broad curriculum.”

We are a very happy and caring community, in which children feel emotionally secure and their individual needs, talents and interests are genuinely catered for. By providing both the right environment and a wide range of experiences that are stimulating, we excite the natural curiosity that is inside every child and harness it to guide them towards discovery and a love of learning.
