On Thursday 14th March, a mixed team of Year 4, 5 and 6's went to Corsham School for a netball tournament. The children played brilliantly, showing excellent passing skills and working together as a team. They won four of their five games - one of them 15-0! The game they lost was incredibly close and they showed real determination as well as being supportive and encouraging throughout. They came second overall and despite being very wet, had a wonderful time.
Huge congratulations to our World Book Day - Book in a box winners!
There were some fantastic boxes from the children through out the school showing great imagination and creativity.
Our winners for this year were....

On the 7th March 2024 a squad of 9 year 5/6 children went to the Corsham Secondary School to take to part in a tag rugby tournament. We played against five teams from nearby primary schools. Our toughest game was against Box which resulted in a 3-2 win. We were undefeated because we worked so well as a team, that is why we took home the trophy!

Visit to Bletchley Park
On Wednesday 31 st January, girls from our Key Stage Two coding club had the opportunity
to visit Bletchley Park, the historic home of the World War II codebreakers. The day was
filled with excitement, learning, and a deep dive into the fascinating world of codebreaking.
The girls were joined by Mr Solomon, Mrs Holden and Mrs Kearns.
Transportation and Journey: The day started with a smooth and enjoyable journey, thanks
to our wonderful minibus driver, Mr. Solomon. The journey to Bletchley Park was lots of fun and set a positive tone for the day ahead!
Guided Tour and Historic Exploration: The guided tour through the grounds and the impressive mansion provided invaluable insights into the historical significance of Bletchley Park. We were captivated by tales of the 9,000 individuals who worked at Bletchley Park during World War II in the joint effort to break codes. The mansion housed the secrets of the past, revealing the level of secrecy that those who worked there had to uphold.
Workshop Highlights: A major highlight of the trip was the fantastic workshop that engaged us in a series of codebreaking activities and challenges. The girls delved into the mysteries of
the Pigpen Cipher, Atbash Cipher, Caesar Cipher and a thrilling Morse Code session that left everyone amazed by its speed!
Hands-On Experience: The workshop also allowed us to interact with iconic machines from the era, including the Enigma machine and the Bombe machine. We had the unique opportunity to operate the Enigma machine, gaining a first-hand understanding of the challenges faced by the wartime codebreakers.
Women's Contribution and Secrecy: A significant aspect of the visit was the valuable knowledge gained about the incredible work of women during World War II. We learned about the vital role played by women in the codebreaking efforts and the high level of secrecy they maintained.
Our visit was an inspiring experience for all! Our children left with a newfound appreciation for history, coding, and the remarkable individuals who contributed to the wartime codebreaking efforts. We are sure it will be a day to remember!
In a thrilling showcase of skill and sportsmanship, Colerne CE Primary School took part in a spectacular swimming gala on Thursday, February 1st.
Excitement filled the air as the young swimmers showcased their swimming prowess, demonstrating determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition. The atmosphere was electric as parents, teachers, and fellow students gathered to support the participants.
The children, eager to make a splash, competed with great zeal, showcasing their dedication to the sport. Their enthusiasm was infectious, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendly competition.
When the final results were tallied, Colerne CE Primary School's swimmers secured a joint fourth-place finish.
However, the accolades didn't stop there. The school's commitment to fair play and encouraging a positive sporting environment was recognized with the presentation of the Fair Play Award. This recognition highlights the emphasis placed on values such as sportsmanship, respect, and fair competition at Colerne CE Primary School.
After the wonder of being Corsham Cluster Football Champions 2023/2024, Colerne Yr6 went to take on the cream of Wiltshire! All 10 skilful players went with great expectations and high hopes. It was immediately obvious that there some teams were playing at a very high standard but Colerne kept on persevering and came up triumphant in their final match against Tadpole Farm. A huge amount to be proud of and a team who represented the school superbly!
In November we sent a team of hockey experts to take on the might of the Corsham cluster. Many of these children attended the school's hockey after school club and so were at least able to hold the hockey stick the correct way. Fun fact: It is illegal to play hockey left handed - who knew! Following a similar path to their football counterparts, the hockey team set about causing chaos and destruction to all in their path! An unbeaten afternoon followed but best of all the team were continually praised for their manner and kindness to their opposition.
The Y5/6 Girls took part in a football tournament at Wiltshire FA yesterday.
They started really well and won their first game 2-0, quickly followed by their second game finishing as a draw. Sadly they lost the next 2 games meaning they didn't progress to the Semi finals but the girls all played brilliantly despite the freezing cold temperatures and not forgetting the high winds. They all really got stuck in and gave it their all. This was the first time this group of girls had played together and their team work and determination was exemplary. Great work Girls!
Mrs Gaston put on a delicious Christmas dinner for the children today. All photos can be found on the school gallery section on this website. Thank you Mrs Gaston!!
Big thanks to the fantastic PTA they managed to arrange a visit from Father Christmas (must have been hard fitting it into his busy schedule) for all the children. He even came with a gift for each child. Thank you!
