  • STEAM Museum trip

    Wed 16 Nov 2022

Muckle Class and Longstone Class enjoyed a day at the Museum of the Great Western Railway for a WW2 themed day to enhance our learning about life on the Home Front. We had two workshops exploring the role of women in the Second World War and the experiences of evacuees, learning more about what it would have been like to be evacuated during the war. The adults all enjoyed role playing host families and were rather picky about the children they chose!

  • Y6 Netball Tournament

    Thu 10 Nov 2022

On a cold, chilly Thursday afternoon, a group of Year 6 travelled to The Corsham Secondary School to represent our school in a Netball tournament. We were up against 5 other schools in our cluster. The afternoon kicked off with us practising our goal shooting, passing and finding space which was run by The Corsham School Sports Leaders. The tournament then began. The children rotated around the 5 different positions and their confidence grew throughout each game which was a delight to watch. There were some excellent passing and shooting skills demonstrated. The group played exceptionally well and didn’t let the cold weather get in their way. A top effort from all!

  • History Museum

    Thu 10 Nov 2022

HISTORY MUSEUM The History Detectives opened the doors to their HD Museum and invited the school to see the many different collections of artefacts they have collated. The History Detectives are a group of keen historians who meet weekly after school. It was their idea to open a museum and it has proven really popular with the children. The whole school visited over the past two Wednesdays, and the detectives’ parents were also given a viewing. There were exhibits on the Egyptians, WW2, bones and fossils, the history of cameras and Ethan put on his own exhibit of family history telling the story of his great?grandfather's experiences down the mines in South Wales. The team worked really hard on setting it up and also were great at talking to all the children about the different artefacts and sharing their knowledge

  • **SIAMS rated as EXCELLENT**

    Fri 04 Nov 2022

    Dear Parents,

It gives us the greatest delight to share with you the report from the recent Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS). As a Church of England school, we are subject to an inspection of how effective our school’s Christian Vision is in enabling pupils and adults to flourish. The day was spent exploring our school, talking to children, parents, Governors and staff, looking at paperwork and discovering all about our ethos. Inspections should take place every five years, however, due to Covid, it has been seven and a half years since our last SIAMS, with at least three significant changes to the framework in that time. Having completed her day, the inspector recognised the wonderful things that make up Colerne Church of England Primary School and gave the school the highest grade possible – EXCELLENT! As you can imagine, this is something that very few schools achieve and it is the impact the vision has on our children that make us most proud. A few of the excellent findings from the report:

    • Pupils show extreme care, acceptance, and compassion for others

    • The Christian vision powerfully expresses the school’s strong sense of service to this frequently changing community.

    • Driven by the vision, Collective worship is deeply embedded and valued by all. Highly inclusive and inspirational

    • Exemplary leadership in religious education (RE)

    • Relentless in its pursuit to meet the needs of all pupils We could not be prouder of our community and a huge thank you to all the adults that the inspector spoke to and the support given to us by you all.

The children on the day were the best ambassadors for all that is great about our school and we could not be prouder of their kindness, polite manners and enthusiasm to engage. Yours sincerely Mark Solomon & Maura Chamberlain
