  • Art Club

    Thu 30 Nov 2023

This term we have been lucky enough to have a group of 3 Hardenhuish students (and ex-Colerne students) running an after school Art Club for a group of our children. Daisy, Alice and Martha have been planning and running these sessions, for a group of 10 KS2 children, in their own time as part of their bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. Everyone involved has been having a fabulous time making pom-poms, firework rockets, Fimo models, leaf collages and snowflake decorations for their Christmas trees. We are so grateful to the girls for their hard work and wish them every success in their efforts towards gaining their DoE awards.

  • Colerne CofE Primary School Choir - Extraordinary! Performance

    Thu 30 Nov 2023

Colerne CofE Primary School choir were part of an Extraordinary! experience last week when they performed with 200 school children from Bath and Wiltshire at the Wiltshire Music Centre. The choir had been working hard, over the last 2 terms, learning 6 specially written songs, all about emotions, by the Voices for Life charity, who organised the event. The children were magnificent, performing with professionalism and passion. We are all incredibly proud of them and can't wait to hear them sing again soon!

  • Cooking Club term 1 - Newsletter.

    Wed 22 Nov 2023

This term, children in Years 5 and 6 have had the opportunity to join a cooking club. They have used a variety of techniques, learnt some new skills and, over the course of 6 weeks, have made some delicious sweet and savoury treats.

Here’s what some of the children had to say…

“I enjoyed the sausage rolls. Having the recipe meant that I could try them again at home. I made them larger, and added mustard and mixed herbs.” Seb.

“Over the weekend, I was inspired by cooking club. I made rocky road, which turned out really well.” Aiden.

“I want to say a huge thank you to Mrs Gaston who has let us borrow her kitchen for cooking club. It’s been great fun and I’ve enjoyed everything we’ve made!” Isla.

  • History Detectives Visit to The Newt, Somerset

    Thu 02 Nov 2023

The History Detectives recently enjoyed a visit to the excellent Roman Villa at the Newt in Somerset. Roman ruins dating back to 351AD were found during an excavation by archaeologists and so a team of architects, archaeologists and craftsmen recreated the Roman Villa on the site of the original one. Alongside this is, we explored the impressive museum showing some of the artifacts found and the original Roman baths.

The Villa reconstruction shows what life was like for an upper-class Roman landowner in the 4th century AD. We explored the kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms as well as the indoor baths. We saw what types of food they would have eaten and how they were prepared. We also enjoyed some activities including mosaic making, weaving and archaeology. We really enjoyed the visit and are now going to share our knowledge and understanding of how the Romans lived in this country with the children in school when they learn about Roman life.

  • Gurdwara Bristol - Montgolfier Class

    Wed 01 Nov 2023

Montgolfier Class enjoyed a visit to the Sikh Gurdwara in Bristol. We have been studying how a Sikh shows their commitment to their faith, and we were fascinated to see the inside of a different place of worship to our local Christian Church. It is a great resource to be able to visit and the children asked and answered lots of questions showing great respect for the Sikh faith. Growing up in our multicultural world, it is so important that we develop mutual tolerance and understanding for all the religions that practise in our country.
