  • Maths Challenge

    Wed 04 Oct 2023

On Wednesday, 8 year 6 children headed to The Corsham Secondary School to take part in a Primary Mathematics Challenge, competing against 12 teams from the local Primary Schools.

The Morning was full of fun with 4 rounds of different logical maths problems against a time limit for the children to solve in their teams. the rounds varied in difficulty, one round was a number crossword which tested all their maths knowledge. It finished with a very fast and exciting relay round where the children had to run to get a question, answer it and run back for the next one. All of the children who took part did amazingly well, with one of our teams scooping the second place spot.

  • SS Great Britain trip

    Tue 13 Jun 2023

Year one and two were fortunate enough to go on a fantastic trip to SS Great Britain. Having been learning about Brunel in history, it was great to see some of his amazing engineering close up. The children took part in a workshop where they learnt how the steamships engine worked and also discovered more about Brunel's life. They had the opportunity to explore the amazing ship and discover what life might have been like along the long voyage to America. They also got to go underneath the ship to see the enormous propeller in the dry dock. A fact filled and fun day was had by everyone.

Despite the horrible weather, we raised the most wonderful sum of £272! That's another 272 trees planted due to your generosity.

Thank you to all those who baked cakes, who made a donation or came and bought some items. Thank you to all the adults for your help, especially Mrs Bennetts and Mrs John.

We are aiming for one more fundraise before the end of the year, keep your eyes peeled.

  • Lambs visit the school.

    Thu 27 Apr 2023

A day in the life of a farmer - by Daniel

Today wasn't a normal day for me at school. My Auntie Sharon brought in three baby lambs, Rosie who is four weeks old, Daffodil who is 5 weeks old and Tulip who is only 3 weeks old. We took them for a play outside reception class. the children were very quiet and the lambs were happy.

I showed the children how to feed the lambs with a bottle and everyone had a go.

The lambs then had another run around and followed me. One of the lambs spotted the gate and made a run for it and the rest of the lambs followed and tried to escape.

Auntie Sharon and I managed to stop them!

I helped Auntie Sharon put the lambs in the van and she took them home.

After all the excitement it was back to normal lessons for me.

After school, I will be going to Auntie Sharons house to feed the lambs. they have 4 bottles of milk a day and they eat lamb cake - it's not like the cake we eat though!

After that I will go home and chill, because it's a hard life being a farmer.

Be sure to look on the school gallery to see more pictures of the children meeting and feeding the lambs.

  • Reception Noahs ark zoo farm visit

    Wed 26 Apr 2023

We are so lucky at Colerne Church of England Primary School. Recently, Foundation Stage got a coach to Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm where we were learnt some interesting facts about a huge range of animals. We were even able to hold and touch some in our ‘Animal Meet and Greet’ workshop. Did you know you should stroke a python with the back of your hand? Most of us were brave enough to have a go, they don’t feel like you’d expect! We also held an African Land Snail. We also met lots of other amazing animals, like the rhino would came from across the field to have a look at us and the lions who were basking in the sunshine.
